The Isle of Skye is one of the most spectacular places in Scotland, famous for dramatic mountains, sea cliffs, waterfalls and rugged coastal scenery. The first thing you see is the Sligachan Bridge. Great intro.
The town of Portree is the main town. Gets very crowded.
The Fairy Glen is a great short and easy hike. Get there early so you have it to yourself.
The Old Man of Storr is the classic bigger hike. It started off clear, but the wind and rain and fog picked up. Towards the top, we were soaked and could barely see. Parking can also be very difficult.
The Fairly Pools was a fun easy hike, but we had to wear the bug nets due to the midges. They were all over and I am glad we had them.
Coos everywhere. The drives on the Isle of Skye make this place special. Narrow roads with tour buses.
Lodging here was not easy. We stayed in a caravan which was terrible. Small, dirty and remote. It was the only thing we could find. Book early.
