Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada

Valley of Fire State Park, located in the Mojave Desert of southern Nevada, is renowned for its striking red sandstone formations, ancient petroglyphs, and diverse desert landscapes. Established in 1935, it is Nevada’s oldest state park and was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1968 .

The park’s vibrant red Aztec sandstone formations, shaped over 150 million years ago, create a surreal landscape that appears to “fire” under the sun’s rays.

The park has served as a backdrop for several films and TV shows, including Total Recall and Star Trek Generations.

We did an awesome hike here but beware, it can get very hot. We hiked the Fire Wave, White Domes and Seven Wonders Loop. Almost 4 miles, not a huge elevation gain, but lots to be careful with on the rocks.

Loved this park and it is a short trip from Las Vegas.
