Transfăgărășan Highway

The Transfăgărășan Highway, also known as DN7C, is renowned for its breathtaking views, winding turns, and high-altitude route through the Carpathian Mountains. It stretches between the regions of Transylvania and Wallachia and was constructed during the reign of Nicolae Ceaușescu in the 1970s.

The highway is known for its scenic beauty and is often described as one of the most spectacular drives in the world. It attracts tourists, driving enthusiasts, and cyclists who seek to experience its challenging and picturesque route. The Transfăgărășan Highway is open seasonally, typically from late June to early October, depending on weather conditions. We drove most of it in May, part was still closed due to snow, but we saw tons of bears all over the road.
