The trail of the 7 Rila Lakes is one of the most popular and picturesque hiking destinations in Bulgaria. Located in the Rila Mountains, these glacial lakes are renowned for their stunning natural beauty and are a highlight for nature enthusiasts and hikers alike. An awesome hike. We started by taking a gondola up to the top of the ski area and then hiked uphill for about 30 minutes. After that it flattened out, but we passed 7 lakes, thru snow, ice, slush, mud and some big rocks. It was amazing, beautiful and we only got lost twice. On the way back the gondola was broken so we had to walk down a steep slope where 3 of us slipped and fell, that took another 90 minutes, but was well worth it and a great day. When we asked for a refund on the gondola, they said no, this is Bulgaria….
