The traditional Golden Circle includes three major sites which we went to all three.
- Þingvellir National Park: A UNESCO World Heritage Site, significant for its historical, cultural, and geological importance. It’s the site of the ancient Icelandic parliament and where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet.
- Geysir Geothermal Area: Known for its geysers, including the active Strokkur which erupts every few minutes.
- Gullfoss Waterfall: A powerful and stunning waterfall that cascades in two stages into a rugged canyon.
