Rio de Janeiro quickly became one of my favorite cities, despite warnings about its safety. Over six days, we explored extensively: walking tours, iconic spots like the Selarón Steps and Sugarloaf Mountain, cultural experiences such as the Museum of Tomorrow and samba shows, and even ventured into Rochina Favela. The city’s blend of beaches, mountains, and rainforests amazed us, all within city limits. Rio’s affordability for Americans was a pleasant surprise, and its friendly locals made our stay even better. We loved every bit of it and would gladly return!
