Queenstown, New Zealand

Queenstown is New Zealand’s adventure capital and one of the most scenic towns in the country, set on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and surrounded by dramatic mountains like The Remarkables. It’s a mix of adrenaline activities, wineries, hiking, and postcard views. It is one of the most beautiful cities we have ever seen and absolutely our favorite in New Zealand.

The first thing we did was take the gondola up to have a drink and see the magnificent views of the city. Well worth it.

Along the waterfront there are bars, restaurants and shops, plus an amazing sunset spot.

The town itself is small and easy to walk. We had some great meals. If you walk north of town along the water, you will pass some beaches with more fantastic views.

The drive into Queenstown is spectacular from either direction.

The flight out of Queenstown has some great views. Try to get a window seat.

Fergburger — the legendary burger joint in Queenstown, New Zealand — is one of the most talked-about food spots in the town and a must-try experience for many visitors.

  • Known worldwide for its gourmet burgers made with high-quality ingredients — often prime New Zealand beef and creative toppings.
  • It’s become part of the Queenstown travel experience, with long queues common at most hours because visitors love it so much.
  • Burgers vary from classics like the original Fergburger to hearty options like the Big Al or lamb and vegetarian alternatives, so there’s something for most tastes.
  • We had the beef, lamb and venison, all were excellent.
