Québec City is one of the oldest European settlements in North America, founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain.

It is the capital of the province of Québec.

The city is not huge and we walked all over. Great shopping and restuarants.

The city is famous for its French heritage: language, culture, architecture, food. Much of the old city (Old Québec / Vieux-Québec) is preserved — cobblestone streets, fortified walls, historic buildings.

The Historic District of Old Québec is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It lights up at night and looks fabulous.

We stayed across the water this time, just a short ferry ride across. The hotels in town were very expensive so a good alternative is Levis. The ferry runs frequently and you do not have to deal with parking in Old Quebec.
Our favorite bathroom of the trip was here.

Quebec City has Old Quebec (Upper town and Lower Town), Chateau Frontenac, the Plains of Abraham and the Citadel.
