Pompeii

Pompeii is one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world, located near Naples in the Campania region of Italy. The ancient Roman city was buried under volcanic ash and pumice following the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. The site provides an extraordinary glimpse into the daily life of a Roman city, preserved in remarkable detail. The site is easy to visit especially from Naples. We spent a few hours there and you could have spent an entire day if you wanted. It can get hot.
