Mt. Etna Sicily

Mount Etna is one of Sicily’s most iconic landmarks and Europe’s highest and most active volcano. It offers a unique combination of natural beauty, geological interest, and recreational activities.

We did some Crater Hiking and you can hike around the craters to see volcanic landscapes up close. There are various trails available, depending on your fitness level and the current volcanic activity. We loved this hike, we highly recommend Mt Etna as a day trip with the hike.

The hike was not terribly hard, but hiking on the black sand or lava was like walking on a steep beach and very easy to slip.

I felt like there were so many different paths we could have taken, but was very happy we had a guide especially as we got higher up. There were some slippery spots and would not have liked to get lost, as most paths did not seen well marked.
