Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa, standing at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level. It’s located in Tanzania and is a dormant volcano composed of three volcanic cones: Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira.

Kilimanjaro is famous for its stunning beauty, diverse ecosystems, and the fact that it’s one of the only places on Earth where you can experience a range of climates in a single hike. From tropical rainforest at the base to the snow-capped summit, the mountain offers an unforgettable adventure. It’s a popular destination for trekkers from around the world, particularly for those who want to reach the summit, Uhuru Peak, without needing technical climbing skills.

We hiked the easiest and most popular trail on Mount Kilimanjaro is the Marangu Route, often called the “Coca-Cola” route because it’s considered more straightforward and has hut accommodations along the way, which makes it a bit more comfortable compared to camping routes. We didn’t go to the top, only did 1 day to the first camp.

It was so fogged in, we could barely see and the entire time in the area, we did not get to see the mountain. But it was still a great experience.
