Lucerne, or Luzern in German, is a captivating city located in the heart of Switzerland. Renowned for its stunning lake and mountain scenery, well-preserved medieval architecture, and vibrant cultural scene, Lucerne offers a blend of natural beauty, historical landmarks, and modern attractions. We have been here a few times and love the trip to the top of Mt. Pilatus. We took the world’s steepest cogwheel railway from Alpnachstad to the top and the cable car back down. The town is cute and below there are 3 pictures taken in the same place in a span of 30 years. Me in 1985, my son in 2015 and then me again after that….
The Chapel Bridge – This 14th-century wooden bridge is one of the oldest covered bridges in Europe. Inside the bridge, you’ll find 17th-century paintings that depict significant events from Lucerne’s history.
Lion Monument – This poignant sculpture commemorates the Swiss Guards who were killed during the French Revolution in 1792.
