Lake Powell and Rainbow Bridge

Lake Powell is a vast and scenic reservoir located on the Colorado River, straddling the border between Utah and Arizona. It’s known for its stunning natural beauty, with striking red rock formations, canyons, and numerous inlets and bays. The water levels here go up and down, it has been very low for the past few years, however, a lot of snow recently has helped raise the levels.

We rented a boat to explore the lake and the kids found a rock to go cliff jumping.

The Rainbow Bridge is a natural rock formation located in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area near Lake Powell in southern Utah. It’s a stunning and iconic geological feature, known for its impressive arch and vibrant, multicolored sandstone. The most common way to visit Rainbow Bridge is by boat. Visitors typically take a boat tour from Lake Powell, which includes a hike to the base of the bridge. There are also options for guided tours or self-guided hikes, though these require permits and are usually best approached with some planning.

We returned to Lake Powell in 2025 and a lot has changed. The water level continues to be low, but it is still a beautiful area. It is part of the Glen Canyon National Recreational Area.
