Homer

Homer, Alaska, is a picturesque town located on the Kenai Peninsula, renowned for its stunning landscapes, vibrant arts scene, and outdoor adventures. Located on the southern tip of the Kenai Peninsula, along Kachemak Bay.

The Homer Spit is a narrow, 4.5-mile-long strip of land extending into Kachemak Bay. It features a bustling harbor, shops, restaurants, and access to various boat tours and fishing charters.

Kachemak Bay State Park – we did an amazing day trip here. First we took a boat across the harbor and then hiked to a glacial lake. I only wish we were prepared, I wanted to go swimming with the ice. This is Alaska’s first state park.

The hike when we got off the boat was nice, too many mosquitos, the Alaska state bird unortunately.

The glacier was fun since we hiked up to it and some people went swimming. Usually we see glaciers from a boat.

The Salty Dawg Saloon was a fun and famous stop for a drink. It opened in the 1890’s. This was the perfect way to top off the day. A nice Alaskan beer.

Don’t miss Homer if you travel to Alaska, it was one of the best stops in a 2 week road trip. In the Harbor on the ride back we saw the cutest Harbor Seals

On the drive to Homer, we stopped and saw salmon swimming upriver.
