Franconia Notch State Park is one of New Hampshire’s most stunning natural areas, located in the White Mountains between Franconia Ridge and Cannon Mountain. It’s packed with waterfalls, mountain hikes, lakes, and scenic viewpoints — perfect for hikers, photographers, and anyone who loves mountain scenery.

We wanted to hike the Franconia Ridge Loop (Lafayette–Lincoln Loop). It was a bit over 30 degrees when we woke up and just too cold to spend the day on a long hike, so we opted for the easier Lonesome lake trail The Ridge loop is one of the most famous hikes in New England with views along an exposed ridgeline.

The Lonesome Lake Trail is about 3 miles round trip and not too hard. It has some great views.
