Christchurch is the largest city in New Zealand’s South Island and the gateway to both the Canterbury Plains and the Southern Alps. It blends English heritage, creative rebuilding after the 2011 earthquake, and easy access to beaches, mountains, and wildlife. We spent 2 nights here and did a full day trip to Akaroa. The city was very walkable and had a large amount of Art, graffiti and sculptures.
The earthquake destroyed a large portion of the city and they did a great job with the entire rebuilding and riverfront.
