Chiricahua National Monument (often referred to as Chiricahua National Park) is a stunning natural area located in the southeastern corner of Arizona, near the border with New Mexico. The park is known for its impressive rock formations, diverse wildlife, and rich history.

Rock Formations – The “Land of Standing-Up Rocks” Chiricahua is famous for its dramatic and unique rock formations, including hoodoos, spires, and balancing rocks. The formations were created through a combination of volcanic activity and erosion over millions of years, leading to the stunning scenery visitors see today. These formations have earned Chiricahua the nickname “Land of Standing-Up Rocks.”

Scenic Beauty The park features incredible vistas and is a great place for hiking, photography, and simply enjoying the natural beauty of the Southwestern landscape. From high viewpoints, you can look out over the Chiricahua Mountains, Sycamore Canyon, and vast stretches of the Sonoran Desert.

We hiked the big loop which combines the best of many of the shorter hikes. This hike was spectacular, but extremely long and difficult. A lot of rocks, hills, sun, and great views. Bring a lot of water.

We loved this park. The hike while difficult was one of our top 10 hikes in the U.S.
