Capadocia, also spelled Cappadocia, is a historical and geological region located in central Turkey. It is known for its unique landscape, ancient cave dwellings, rock formations, and rich cultural heritage. We went here to mainly try hot air ballooning. I was so scared, I had to take a xanax, but I am glad we did it. We stayed in the Henna Cave Hotel and each morning the balloons went just about over our hotel, so from the rooftop you got some great pictures.
The hot air balloons is something we will never forget. We used Royal Balloon and were very impressed with their attention to detail and their safety precautions.
The ATV tour was fair at best. We did get to see things, but there were about 20-30 tours all going at the same time. It was hard to hear any of the guides and we felt like a number with a lot of people in our group. Some of the best hiking in the world. We hiked the Red, Rose, Pigeon and Love Valleys. Nothing was too difficult, but there were a few spots where the soft ground made it hard going downhill. Most trails were well marked. It did get hot and was very dry, so make sure you have plenty of water.
Plus the Göreme Open-Air Museum is one of Turkey’s most remarkable attractions, located in the heart of Cappadocia. This UNESCO World Heritage site offers a fascinating glimpse into the region’s rich history, religious heritage, and unique geological formations.
The town was fun, lots of hills, some good restaurants and a ton of cave hotels. We stayed at the Henna Hotel.
