Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is Uganda’s most famous park and one of the best places on Earth to see mountain gorillas in the wild. It’s located in the country’s southwest, near the borders with Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas (over 450 individuals). Multiple habituated gorilla families are available for trekking, offering more permit availability than Mgahinga.

Listen to the guide saying, DON’T RUN.
The rainforest is extremely dense, with thick undergrowth, vines, and mud (especially in rainy months). I know there are a lot of pictures here, but the facial expressions are amazing.

Trekking involves steep ridges and valleys, and paths are often unmarked—you follow rangers cutting through the forest.
Gorilla groups can be deep inside the forest, and hikes range 2–8+ hours depending on where the gorillas are.
