The City
Often called the Paris of South America. Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city of Argentina, situated on the eastern shore of the Río de la Plata. It is a melting pot of cultures, influenced by European, particularly Italian and Spanish, as well as indigenous and African traditions. The city’s neighborhoods, or barrios, each have their own unique charm and character.
The city boasts a mix of architectural styles, from colonial buildings in neighborhoods like San Telmo and La Boca to French-inspired mansions in Recoleta. The iconic Casa Rosada, the presidential palace, is located in the historic Plaza de Mayo.
We took a bike tour which is a great way to see the city.
The Food
The food is incredible….The portions are insane. Meat and more meat…..We had some of the best steak and wine and the prices are super low compared to America. Buenos Aires is a paradise for food lovers, offering a diverse culinary scene that includes traditional Argentine cuisine such as asado (barbecue), empanadas, and dulce de leche. The city also has numerous cafes, parrillas (steakhouses), and pizzerias reflecting its European influences.
Tigre Delta
The Tigre Delta is a great day trip from Buenos Aires. We took a train and got on a private boat. Cruised thru the delta and got ourselves covered in mud. The Tigre Delta is situated about 30 kilometers (19 miles) north of Buenos Aires, where the Paraná River branches out into a sprawling network of islands and waterways. It forms part of the Paraná Delta system, one of the largest in the world. We also stopped at what I could call a treehouse restaurant. Some of the best Pizza and Beer.
Tango
When in Buenos Aires, you should take in a tango show. We did and had a great time with a dinner show. Tango, Argentina’s national dance, originated in Buenos Aires and is deeply ingrained in the city’s cultural fabric. Visitors can experience tango shows in venues like La Boca or San Telmo, or take tango lessons to immerse themselves in this passionate dance.
