Biscayne National Park, located in southeastern Florida, is renowned for its diverse marine and coastal ecosystems. It encompasses the northernmost portion of the Florida Keys and provides a unique blend of underwater and terrestrial experiences. This is the type of park we can go to weekly since it is on the water just outside Miami.
Situated just south of Miami, Biscayne National Park covers an area of approximately 172,971 acres, including a mix of coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass beds, and a portion of the Florida Keys. Almost all of this park is on the water or under the water. A great place go spend the day on a boat.
Stiltsville is a unique and intriguing site located in Biscayne Bay, just off the coast of Miami, Florida. It consists of a collection of historic stilt houses built over the water in the early 20th century. Stiltsville is located approximately 3 to 4 miles offshore from Miami in Biscayne Bay. The area is part of Biscayne National Park. Stiltsville originated in the 1930s when people began building stilt houses in the bay, initially for recreational and social purposes. Over time, the community grew, and various structures were added, including bars and clubhouses.
