The Beartooth Highway is one of the most scenic drives in the United States, renowned for its breathtaking views and dramatic landscapes. It is maybe my favorite drive in the United States and we have done it twice.
The Beartooth Highway runs between Red Lodge, Montana, and the Northeast Entrance of Yellowstone National Park, crossing into Wyoming. It is approximately 68 miles (109 kilometers). The highway reaches a maximum elevation of about 10,947 feet (3,336 meters) at Beartooth Pass, making it one of the highest paved roads in North America.
