Bariloche

The Town

The small circuit, the route of the 7 Lakes and the boat from Puerto Varas

The Small Circuit (Circuito Chico): This refers to a popular scenic route near Bariloche in Argentina’s Patagonia region. It typically starts from Bariloche and loops around the nearby lakes and mountains, offering stunning views of Nahuel Huapi Lake, Moreno Lake, and the surrounding Andes mountains. Highlights include stops at viewpoints, natural landmarks, and opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking and photography. We did a few hikes here and they were great.

The Route of the 7 Lakes (Ruta de los 7 Lagos): This iconic route stretches from San Martín de los Andes to Villa La Angostura in the Argentine Patagonia. It passes through a series of seven picturesque lakes, including Lacar, Machónico, Falkner, Villarino, Escondido, Correntoso, and Nahuel Huapi. The route offers breathtaking scenery of crystal-clear lakes, dense forests, and snow-capped peaks, making it a popular destination for road trips, hiking, and photography. We only did a few of the lakes as this is a long drive, but beautiful.

Boat from Puerto Varas: Puerto Varas is a town in Chile’s Lake District, known for its stunning views of Lake Llanquihue and the Osorno Volcano. Boat tours from Puerto Varas typically explore the nearby waters, offering views of the volcanoes, lush landscapes, and sometimes visits to islands like Isla de los Cisnes or other points of interest around the lake. These boat tours provide a relaxing way to enjoy the natural beauty and serenity of the Lake District. Great way to get from Puero Varas to Bariloche, 4 boats, 3 buses and about 12 hours. It is a long day, but you get to see so much.
