Palisade is a small town in western Colorado, on the Colorado River, known for its vineyards, wineries, peach orchards and dramatic red-rock landscapes. It is part of Colorado’s Grand Valley wine region and makes a pleasant stop if you’re exploring the state’s western side.

Wineries and vineyards: Visit local wineries and tasting rooms set against the mountains. Palisade is one of Colorado’s best-known wine destinations. We had a great lunch and tasting at Maison Belle.

Peach orchards: The area is famous for its peaches, especially in late summer. Look for roadside farm stands and seasonal fruit. We were out of season but had to stop for some peaches.
