Kallur Lighthouse — Kalsoy
Island: Kalsoy Start: Trøllanes Distance: roughly 4–5 km round tripTime: about 1½–2½ hoursDifficulty: Moderate Highlight: spectacular narrow grassy ridges, enormous cliffs and the little Kallur Lighthouse at the end. You also pass the James Bond memorial, associated with No Time to Die. Getting there requires the ferry from Klaksvík to Kalsoy, followed by the road/bus to Trøllanes. Ferry timing is an important part of planning.
Trælanípa — “Lake Above the Ocean”
The famous Sørvágsvatn/Leitisvatn hike on Vágar Island.
- Start: near Miðvágur
- Time: roughly 2–3 hours round trip for the Trælanípa/Bøsdalafossur route
- Difficulty: Easy to moderate
- Main attraction: from Trælanípa cliff, the lake appears to be floating high above the Atlantic Ocean—a remarkable optical illusion.
- Continue toward Bøsdalafossur, a waterfall that drops directly into the Atlantic.
- It’s very close to the airport, making it particularly convenient on a Vágar sightseeing day.
