Sintra is a beautiful historic town in the hills just outside Lisbon, famous for its fairytale palaces, castles, gardens, and lush scenery. It is one of Portugal’s must-see destinations. The town is cute, but the main attraction is the Pena Palace.
Pena Palace – the colorful hilltop palace and Sintra’s most famous attraction. 🌿 Beautiful outside, the inside was so packed we could barely move and barely see. It was not enjoyable and we had the first timed entry of the day and the crowds were still too much.
Quinta da Regaleira – spectacular gardens, tunnels, grottoes, and the famous Initiation Well. We didn’t get to go in here as there were no tickets left for the next 3 days. Very disappointing as we would have liked to see this.
🏯 Moorish Castle – dramatic medieval fortress with walls running along the mountain ridge.
