Calgary is the largest city in the province of Alberta and one of Canada’s major economic and cultural centers. Located where the Bow and Elbow Rivers meet, it sits on the eastern edge of the Canadian Rockies foothills, about an hour’s drive from Banff National Park. Calgary was our entry point and gateway to the Canadian Rockies.
About 1.4 million people in the city and over 1.6 million in the metropolitan area. Often called “Cowtown” because of its ranching and western heritage. Elevation: Approximately 1,045 meters (3,428 feet) above sea level, making it one of Canada’s highest major cities.
We had great Dim Sum in Chinatown and enjoyed our walking tour of the city, with Toonie Tours which was excellent. @toonietours
