Porto is Portugal’s second-largest city and a beautiful historic city on the Douro River. It’s famous for its old town, bridges, Port wine, and dramatic riverside setting.
Hills, Hills and Hills, be prepared to walk uphill and downhill.
🏘️ Ribeira – colorful historic waterfront district with restaurants, cafés, and narrow streets. 🍷 You can see the Dom Luis Bridge and Vila Nova de Gaia – across the river, where the famous Port wine lodges are located.
🚉 São Bento Station – famous for its beautiful blue-and-white azulejo tile panels.
📚 Livraria Lello – ornate historic bookstore and one of Porto’s most famous attractions.
Famous McDonalds – It used to be a cafe and this is regarded by many as the prettiest McDonald’s in the world. They even pay a women to sit outside with a Hawk to chase away the pigeons.
We also had some great sunsets from our Hotel pool.
One of the nights, we went to a light show at the Clérigos Tower.
We enjoyed Porto, probably more than Lisbon.
