Akaroa Peninsula

Akaroa is a charming harborside village about 1.5 hours from Christchurch, known for its French heritage, wildlife cruises, and scenic Banks Peninsula drives and Alpacas. It’s one of the prettiest and most relaxing day trips (or overnight stays) in the region.

We did a full day here and it was awesome. The drive in was beautiful with views of the harbour.

The Alacpa farm was special. We learned about the Alpacas, played with them and were able to feed them.

The Hector dolphins are the smallest and rarest ocean dolphins in the world, found only in the shallow coastal waters of New Zealand. They’re famous for their small size and rounded “Mickey Mouse” dorsal fin.

The dolphins were fascinating and the boat ride was a treat.

We had lunch in town, but were too late to tour the Giants House.
