Montmorency Falls, Quebec, Canada

Montmorency Falls (French: Chute-Montmorency) is a spectacular waterfall just outside Québec City.

It’s a waterfall on the Montmorency River, which plunges ~83 meters (272 ft) into the Saint Lawrence River. That’s about 30 m higher than Niagara Falls.

Location: the falls are ~12–13 km (≈15 minutes drive) northeast of Old Québec, between the borough of Beauport and Boischatel.

The area around the falls is protected within Parc de la Chute-Montmorency. There are some very nice easy hikes around the falls area and the parc.

We climbed the Staircase/Panoramic Steps. 487 step staircase along the cliff side to the view the falls. We went down the steps and then back up. It was long, but worth the views.

We walked the suspension bridge which offers thrilling views and a sense of being right over the water’s roar.

There is also a cable car/aerial Lift if you do not want to try the steps.
