Nairobi National Park, Kenya

Nairobi National Park — A Unique Urban Safari

  • Just 7 km (about 4–10 minutes’ drive) south of Nairobi’s central business district, along Lang’ata Road, the park is one of the most accessible national parks in the world.
  • Established in 1946, it was Kenya’s first national park and remains a key sanctuary—especially for endangered black rhinos.
  • Despite being small (around 117 km²), the park supports a high density of wildlife and preserves vital corridors to the Kitengela Conservation Area via its open southern border.

Nairobi National Park offers a rare and captivating opportunity to encounter wildlife—from rhinos to wildebeests—just miles from a global city. The surreal contrast of skyscrapers and savannah makes it a memorable destination for both tourists and locals.
