Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda

Lake Bunyonyi is one of Uganda’s most scenic and tranquil destinations, often visited after gorilla trekking in Bwindi or Mgahinga. Its name means “place of little birds” and it’s famous for its serene beauty, dotted with small islands and surrounded by terraced hills.

Surrounded by lush hills and 29+ islands, each with its own story (e.g., Punishment Island where unmarried pregnant girls were once abandoned).

Misty mornings and stunning sunsets make it one of Uganda’s most photogenic spots.

The boat/ferry was great, it saved us 2 hours on bumpy roads around the lake. A nice bottle of wine was waiting at the resort.
