Antigua, officially known as La Antigua Guatemala, is a city located in the central highlands of Guatemala. It holds significant historical, cultural, and architectural importance, making it one of the most popular destinations in Central America.
Antigua Guatemala was founded in 1543 as Santiago de los Caballeros and served as the capital of Guatemala for over 200 years during the Spanish colonial period. It was a prominent center of Spanish colonial administration and culture in the region.
The city is renowned for its well-preserved Spanish Baroque architecture, with beautiful colonial buildings, churches, convents, and cathedrals lining its cobblestone streets. The architecture reflects a blend of Spanish influence and local craftsmanship, characterized by elaborate facades, courtyards, and ornate interiors.
We hiked a volcano and roasted marshmallows on the lava….very cool.
















We took an ATV tour to a coffee plantation…..








And explored town, drank at a great bar and walked all over.
