Kuala Lumpur, often abbreviated as KL, is the capital city of Malaysia. It’s a bustling metropolis known for its vibrant culture, modern skyline, and rich history. We spent a few days exploring the city. We were impressed. The streets on a Saturday night were as crowded as we have ever seen in any city. But we felt safe and the city was clean.
Petronas Twin Towers: These iconic towers, once the tallest buildings in the world, are a must-see. They are known for their stunning architectural design and offer a great view of the city from the observation deck. We didn’t go up but enjoyed the light and water show from KLCC Park. This is maybe the most impressive building we have ever seen.

Cultural Diversity: The city is a melting pot of cultures, with a mix of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and various other ethnicities. This diversity is reflected in the city’s food, festivals, and neighborhoods.

Shopping: Kuala Lumpur is a shopper’s paradise with numerous malls like Pavilion, Suria KLCC, and Berjaya Times Square, offering everything from luxury brands to local goods. The malls are huge and while it is very hot there, you can walk thru the malls to get to other parts of the city.

Food: The city is famous for its street food, particularly in areas like Jalan Alor, where you can try a wide variety of Malaysian dishes.

Public Transport: KL has a reliable public transportation system, including light rail transit (LRT), monorails, and buses, making it easy to navigate around the city. We used the light rail to venture out to the Batu Caves, it was easy and avoided some of the traffic. Coming from the airport we spent about an hour in traffic, so be prepared depending on the time of day. It was also very clean.

Nighttime has some great views and tremendous crowds.

The view from Vertigo rooftop bar is amazing, but check out the crowds on the street.
