Crete, the largest of the Greek islands, is a diverse and captivating destination known for its rich history, stunning landscapes, and vibrant culture. We did some beach hopping along the south shore. We also hiked one of the gorges which was amazing in a separate post.
Crete has a very diverse terrain
Mountains: The island is characterized by rugged mountain ranges, such as the White Mountains (Lefka Ori) and Mount Psiloritis, which provide excellent opportunities for hiking and outdoor activities.
Gorges: Crete is home to several impressive gorges, including Samaria Gorge, Imbros Gorge, and Aradena Gorge, offering dramatic landscapes and challenging hikes.
Beaches: The island features a wide range of beautiful beaches, from sandy shores like Elafonissi and Balos Lagoon to rocky coves and secluded spots like Sweetwater Beach.
